McDuffie House, by StudioMet Architects

McDuffie House is a single-family home designed by StudioMet Architects, it covers an area of 3,250 sf and is located in Houston, Texas, USA.

This urban single family home near Montrose sits among dense multi-family residential and multi-story townhouse structures.
The exterior form is an interplay of plane, mass and void designed to break the monotony of the repetitious townhouse form that is otherwise prevalent along the street.
The main living spaces are on the first floor and open to the rear covered patio, pool and yard via a wall of glass sliding doors. Exterior materials —brick and wood — are brought into the interior to further blur the line between interior and exterior space. There are three bedroom suites on the second floor, with the master bedroom located at the rear of the home for privacy from the street connects to a balcony overlooking the pool on the 5,400 sf lot.
The garage entry is turned ninety degrees to further break the rhythm of street-facing garages and to increase the sense of depth from the street.
